The series His Dark Materials is renewed and will soon return with a sequel.

His Dark Materials is a drama fantasy web TV series. It is based on a set of novel series named the same, that is His Dark Materials written by Philip Pullman. The web series is produced by New Line Productions and Bad Wolf. However, is globally distributed by HBO & BBC One.

Only the first season of the show is yet released. And, it was released on November 3, 2019, with a total of 8 episodes in it. However, the show His Dark Materials was already renewed for a sequel (season: 2) before it’s premiere. The second season is planned to have a total of 8 episodes. But the ongoing global pandemic COVID-19 has shut the filming. And the direction of now rescheduled. to have a total of 7 episodes in the upcoming season.

Jack Thorne has written the upcoming season of His Dark Materials (season: 2). Besides, the cast members including- Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ruth Wilson, and Dafne Keen will surely return.

In addition, Lyra (played by Dafne Keen) said: “It feels so good and satisfying, knowing we will have one more season.” Dafne added: “And we are sure for the upcoming season to go well.”

The first season of the show ended with Lyra following her father, Asriel to an unknown place. The sequel is expected to take up from that point. And will continue to the adoption of Philip Pullman’s trilogy to the second book of that series. Named The Subtle Knife.

Moreover, BBC and HBO have released the first official trailer of the upcoming season. The trailer revealed the first look at a new world, called Cittàgaze. It is a charming city with unknown mysterious secrets that have led it to become a location the author’s original The Subtle Knife novel. Furthermore, the new season has a few more new cast members. Including- Andrew Scott and so on.

The new season is expected to be more mysterious and darker. Pan encounter Will has wandered to be somewhere out of his world. And will focus on looking at his father, who was disappeared in the first season.

When will Jack Thorne’s ‘His Dark Materials’ Season: 2 return?

The ongoing global pandemic COVID-19 has affected the whole world. Thus, has stopped the filming and production of movies. But, the show ‘His Dark Materials’ was already filmed before the pandemic broke out. However, the post-production work is under process. According to sources, the upcoming season is expected to be aired in late 2020. That is, in November 2020. The second season will most like be premiered in November, after removing the last episode from this season.

To begin with, most of the cast members are expected to return to the upcoming season of His Dark Materials.

  • star Dafne Keen playing as Lyra Belacqua (feisty heroine).

This season will also have Ruta Gedmintas playing as a witch named Serafina Pekkala. Along with Helen McCrory & Joe Tandberg. They will play as voice and sound of Lord Asriel & Iorek Byrnison respectively.
